Housing
Rooms in the Ticonderoga area can be difficult to find during the height of the summer season. Fort Ticonderoga has reserved a block of rooms at Best Western Plus Ticonderoga Inn & Suites for NEH Summer Scholars. We are currently negotiating rates. NEH Summer Scholars will be responsible for reserving their rooms from this block by May 15th and the remaining rooms will be released at that time. Once the 2025 NEH Summer Scholars are selected, Fort Ticonderoga will create a closed Facebook page to assist teachers in finding roommates (if desired) and coordinating travel arrangements.
Best Western Plus Ticonderoga Inn & Suites offers everything for your comfort. Guests feel right at home in one of its 54 nonsmoking rooms in a quiet setting with luxurious bedding. HD televisions, free Wi-Fi, and guest laundry are also available to all guests. Guests also enjoy an extensive continental breakfast, an in-house restaurant, an Adirondack-style pub, an indoor heated pool and hot tub, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility. Situated 3 miles from Fort Ticonderoga and an hour north of Lake George Village, and just a short 20 minutes off exit 28 on I-87.
Academic Resources
Wifi internet access is available throughout the Fort Ticonderoga campus, including in the Mars Education Center where most of our program takes place.
Throughout the workshop, Fort Ticonderoga staff will share manuscripts and artifacts with NEH Summer Scholars. These, along with thousands of other resources, are available online through the Ticonderoga Online Collections Database.
NEH Summer Scholars at Fort Ticonderoga will receive name tags at orientation. We ask that teachers wear their name tags whenever on the grounds of Fort Ticonderoga. The name tags provide NEH Summer Scholars with a special discount in the museum store throughout the workshop as well.
Graduate Credits
Fort Ticonderoga has arranged for NEH Summer Scholars to earn 3 graduate credits in Education through Vermont State University-Castleton if they wish. Assignments for graduate credits will be due on October 15, 2025, enabling teachers to complete graduate work after the workshop.
